The National Football League has fined the Falcons and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich following and investigation into the phone prank Ulbrich's son Jax played on Shedeur Sanders during the second day of the draft.
The franchise was fined $250,000 and Jeff Ulbrich $100,000 for "failing to prevent the disclosure of confidential information distributed to the club in advance of the NFL draft.”
Jax Ulbrich gained access to Sanders' private number off his father's iPad without his knowledge and used it to call Sanders during Friday's third round, misrepresenting himself as Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and telling Sanders they were going to draft him.
Sanders received personal and public apologies from Jax and the Falcons, who thanked the NFL following the fine for its "swift and thorough review of last week's data exposure ... We are proactive in addressing the situation internally ... We are confident in our security policies and practices ... The Ulbrich family is working with the organization to participate in community service initiatives in relation to last week's matter."
Put a pin in this one, but there are three other prank calls the league is investigating, including one to Penn State tight end Tyler Warren. There's no been no reporting that those calls are tied to Jax Ulbrich.
