Caitlin Clark kept her head down her rookie season, staying out of controversy (her end of it, at least) and just focusing on basketball. Those days are over. Perhaps recognizing that her voice carries weight — perhaps more than any WNBA player ever — she opened up about player pay Tuesday night after the Fever won the in-season Commissioner's Cup against the Lynx.
Clark, who missed the game due to injury, addressed the payouts to the players for winning the Cup — $30,000 cash per player, plus an equal division of $120,000 in cryptocurrency — compared to wining the ANBA championship:
"You get more for this than you do if you're a champion," Clark said during the team's locker room celebration. "Makes no sense. Someone tell Cathy [Engelbert] to help us out."
WNBA champion players, make about $20,000 cash as a bonus for winning it all.
Definitely messed up. Good for Clark. That's an absurdity.
